Our respect for the Lamborghini Aventador, which was already high, has grown substantially after seeing this crash involving the supercar wedging under a semi-trailer. Believe it or not, the 36-year-old driver literally walked away from the collision with only minor injuries.

According to Gordon Gazette, Georgia State Patrol concluded from its preliminary investigation that the Lambo driver was traveling in excess of 100 mph north on I-75 when he lost control of the vehicle, submarining under the back end of the semi-trailer which was traveling in the right lane.
While the Aventador is an amazing car, they can’t defy the laws of physics. They also don’t completely negate bad driving habits. But we also know many guys who plunk down big money for a supercar just have to believe the vehicle will make them an amazing driver. That leads to overestimating the car’s performance abilities and their driving skills, a dangerous combination.
We’ve all seen guys in fast cars who think treating heavy traffic like a slalom as they drive whatever speed they desire is acceptable. It’s possible that’s what happened here, considering what Georgia State Patrol said. We’re just glad this driver’s decision to speed while behaving recklessly didn’t result in the injury or death of anyone else. And he’s damn lucky it didn’t result in either one for him.
The real test is whether or not the 36-year-old will go hotdogging around in traffic again. In our experience, a lot of drivers who do stupid stuff like that will back off for a while, then as the lesson fades into the background they become stupidly overconfident again and go back to their old stunts. We hope that isn’t the case here, but we’ve seen this scenario play out too many times.
