Chip was diagnosed with amyloidosis in December 2003, a rare disease in which abnormal proteins accumulate in the body’s organs and tissue. Tragically, he passed away on March 25, 2004. The foundation was created in his memory to fund research and raise awareness for a disease that affects roughly 3,000 Americans each year and is often diagnosed too late.
