An attempted burglary at a Washington potshop was foiled by a quick-thinking bystander with bear spray. The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of the morning, involved suspects using stolen cars in an audacious attempt to break into the cannabis store.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m., using three Kias as their means of operation. In a bold move, one of the cars was driven directly into the side of the building, causing significant structural damage. An eyewitness to the crime described the impact as so forceful that it “pushed the building backwards.”

However, the suspects’ plans were abruptly disrupted. A bystander, witnessing the scene unfold, intervened by spraying the intruders with bear spray while they were still inside the car. This unexpected act led to the suspects hastily abandoning their heist, and fleeing the scene without stealing anything.
KIRO 7 interviewed an individual associated with the potshop, who recounted the chaotic incident. Despite the damage to the building, the quick response of the bystander prevented the situation from escalating further.
In the aftermath, Snohomish County deputies managed to recover two of the three vehicles used in the attempted burglary. However, the suspects managed to escape in the third car. The authorities have not made any arrests yet, but the investigation is actively ongoing as they work to track down those involved in the crime.
