Pinal County Sheriff Frank Sloup has won quite the following through his Fridays With Frank video series. Solely running traffic with his unmarked Dodge Charger Hellcat, he loves educating people about the laws in Arizona. But he’s not afraid to mete out some justice when it’s deserved, which is exactly why he put the smack down on this speeding Ford Mustang driver.
The way this Dodge Charger drives is freaking people out.
Criminal speeding in Arizona is defined as more than 20 mph over the speed limit on most roads. We know some cops go easy on people they clock going 22 over, probably because of calibration and their being so close to what’s classified as a crime. But this Mustang was blasting down the road at 121 mph where the posted limit is 50 mph.
Instead of trying to argue with the guy first, he orders the driver out of the Mustang and immediately cuffs him. Deputy Sloup has a no-nonsense approach that works well in situations like this.
What really sets him off is how nonchalant the Mustang driver is about getting arrested for criminal speeding, on top of driving recklessly. We’ve all seen guys like this who think public roads are their personal raceway.
These little wanna-be racers don’t realize that most real racers drive nice and calmly on public roads. They get all their need for speed out on the track. But that requires dedication and effort. We think that might be in part why these guys who blast around in their “performance” vehicles (they’re usually a lower-powered version of an actual muscle or sports car) don’t take it to the track. They want all the thrills without any of the sacrifice.
How Deputy Sloup is able to remain so calm while this kid acts like speeding at 121 mph is no big deal is beyond us. He’s a more patient man than we are, that’s for sure.
