Driver Jumps Out Of Pitted Tundra, Kisses The Pavement

While we’ve seen some fleeing suspects do some crazy jumps from a car that’s been pitted, even making us think maybe they’re secretly Spider-Man, we don’t recommend trying that. Unfortunately, this guy who was fleeing in a white Toyota Tundra learned the hard way why it’s just a dumb idea.

This is why you should absolutely wear a seatbelt.

This incident took place in Hot Springs, Arkansas with an Arkansas State Police trooper leading the chase. We guess if you’re dumb enough to run from ASP you’re also dumb enough to jump out of your moving truck.

It’s not clear why the guy was running from police, but the trooper didn’t have a hard time catching up to him. And it didn’t take long to set up and executive an effective PIT maneuver.

The truck goes spinning into the median, which is nice and grassy and has a wire barrier to prevent crossover accidents. That does a good job of slowing the pickup down as it keeps rolling backwards.

We guess the guy thought that was the perfect moment to bail and try running away on foot. But the truck is rolling at a good 40 mph or so and the guy doesn’t make a graceful exit at all. Instead of landing feet first on the ground, he faceplants onto the pavement and knocks himself out.

The guy is lucky, though, because we’ve seen people run themselves over trying something stupid like this. He also could’ve been run over by another car, although the trooper was angling toward him, preventing that.

Ultimately, this guy got carted away by ambulance after this high-speed pavement kiss. Pulling over and taking a speeding ticket, or whatever this guy was running from, couldn’t have been nearly as bad.
