Tracking down and bringing in homicide suspects isn’t exactly the safest thing to do, but for police it’s all part of the job. Some guys give up and go to the station without any fuss, but others will literally go down guns blazing. Then there’s this guy who decides to use his Dodge Charger Scat Pack to take Little Rock Police on a ride through city streets.
This is one of the most amazing police chases we’ve ever seen.
Officers spot the green Scat Pack no problem and initiate a traffic stop. With the potential danger of the situation, more than one unit was present. That probably tipped the suspect off that he wasn’t being stopped just for not using his blinker.
While the suspect is hanging out the window, asking what he did, the powerful muscle car is left idling. Instead of ordering him to shut off the engine, an officer asks if it’s in park and tells the guy to get out using the exterior door handle.
Instead, the suspect has a better idea and takes off, the Hemi V8 roaring ferociously as the sedan rockets down the road. Even though the guy hasn’t presented a weapon, these officers are completely outgunned.
Sure, police have numbers and a radio, but we hate to break it to you that it isn’t an automatic way to stop someone fleeing in a far faster vehicle. The guy just keeps on going, making turn after turn, until eventually the lead unit can’t see him anymore and officers have no idea where the Dodge went.
In other words, the murder suspect got away. Maybe he’s not dangerous and is innocent, but he did engage in felony fleeing. Eventually, police will catch up with the guy and he’ll have to answer for running and possibly more.
But this pursuit does show how even the mighty radio can’t catch someone competent driving a truly fast car.
