Eyewitness accounts suggest the limited edition Mustang was speeding at perilous speeds, estimated at around 100 miles per hour on the residential street, when it collided with a concrete pole. The impact was so severe that it broke the pole in half. The car then reportedly rolled several times before coming to a halt in a homeowner’s front yard, narrowly avoiding a power pole.
The aftermath of the crash was grim, with the green Mustang significantly mangled. Efforts to rescue the driver required first responders to remove the car’s roof, a testament to the crash’s severity. Parts of the destroyed vehicle were scattered across the scene, with at least one wheel missing and others deflated, as observed from aerial footage captured by Sky5.
Local residents expressed their shock and concern, highlighting the potential dangers such an event posed to the neighborhood, known for its pedestrian activity. The driver’s reckless speed on a street frequented by walkers amplified the community’s alarm.
The injured driver was promptly transported to Lowell General Hospital before being transferred to a trauma center in the Boston area. Details regarding his condition remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.
