While many teenagers would do any number of things to get a new, customized Ford Mustang, one cancer survivor in Florida had that wish come true. Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, she’s riding in style for her final days at high school and has a car to see her through college.

Mikita Bailey, 17-years-old from Venice, Florida received her customized pony car with a 10 Tampa Bay camera crew filming the event. She seemed giddy upon firing up the engine, perhaps realizing what once seemed like a dream had become reality.
The plan is for Bailey to take her new Mustang to an upcoming car show to let others be wowed by the purple exterior, special lighting, and other mods. It’s definitely a cool ride, especially for someone who isn’t even legally an adult yet.
And this helps prove our point that kids do still like cool cars, it’s just that most can’t afford them these days. We bet plenty more would go for something like this if they had the chance and would be on cloud nine.
Bailey told 10 Tampa Bay the car will be “helpful” but said it “also serves as a trophy… a memory” of how she can overcome extreme adversity. As a survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymph tissue, she has been through more than pretty much any of her peers.
Doctors believe she’s in the clear after scans following treatment “look promising.” We hope she stays cancer free and enjoys many years to come, including making fantastic memories with her Mustang.
The report also mentions that Bailey will be a freshman at Louisiana State University this fall, so her pony car is the right color to really get people fired up about school spirit on football game days.
