Years ago, Toyota aired a commercial many found ridiculous, depicting guys using a Prius as a bank robbery getaway car to highlight the hybrid’s efficiency. Life imitated the joke when a girl actually stole a Prius and tried to flee police in it.
An economy hybrid is hardly an ideal getaway vehicle. The unlikely chase played out about as well as the old commercial suggested it might, ending with the driver caught and the Prius proving no match for pursuing officers.
