Sometimes cars invite themselves into buildings, including people’s homes. Usually it’s a surprise visit, like this Chevy Camaro which barged into a family’s living room in Escambia County, Florida. Fortunately, nobody was killed.
Tesla jumps a backyard pool and crashes into a house.
According to Escambia County Fire Rescue, this crash happened in the morning hours of April 1. Talk about an April Fools to remember. It sounds like nobody was in the living room at the time, probably because everyone was tucked away in bed.
As for the Camaro driver, Escambia County Fire Rescue only said a single person was evaluated and transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries. There’s no word on their status.
Looking at the Camaro itself, the car sustained quite a bit of front end damage, especially in the lower front fascia. At least one of the front wheels looks to be essentially sheared off. Considering how damaged the home is, it’s surprising the muscle car didn’t take a bigger hit.
However, the family will be displaced from the house for a while since it has a huge gaping hole in it. What a mess.
Florida Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the crash, so we don’t have any more details. It’s possible the crash had something to do with reckless driving, intoxication, or even a drowsy driver considering the time it happened. But we don’t know if it was any of those things.
What we do know is this is a great reminder of the incredible power you wield every time you get behind the wheel. We think a lot of drivers get desensitized to this, but you’re essentially driving a few thousand pound wrecking ball on wheels, so treat it with caution. If you don’t, you or someone else might not walk away.
