Thieves have long used tow trucks to steal cars, a tactic we’ve warned about repeatedly. One of the latest examples comes from St. Louis, where a man with a wrecker was reportedly hauling cars parked along the street onto his truck before driving off with them.
Disguising theft as a legitimate tow makes the crime harder to spot in the moment. The case is a reminder that owners can’t always assume a vehicle being loaded onto a truck is being handled lawfully.
