Watch Milwaukee Police Corner A Carjacking Gang

A group of teenagers who decided carjacking innocent victims was a good way to make money was cornered and shot by police in Milwaukee back in June. Newly released dashcam footage shows the final minutes of the pursuit as well as the shooting which led to one death.

As you can see in the footage we’ve included, the chase ended up on Interstate 43 northbound back on June 20 with officers in hot pursuit of the white Chevy Trax. Weaving through heavy traffic, including going onto both shoulders, the suspects seemed determined to get away.

However, the 17-year-old driver, Calveyon Jeans, makes a critical mistake as he’s veering onto the left shoulder at one point, getting caught between two cement barriers set up to block off road construction.

It’s possible he thought the move was clever, but it turned out it would lead to their sudden capture after a hail of gunfire.

Eventually, the little Chevy crossover comes across a cement truck blocking the path. Cops pull in behind it and the carjacker gang is trapped like a bunch of rats. However, Jeans doesn’t seem to accept that fact and keeps angling the vehicle apparently in an attempt to escape.

But with officers out of their cruisers, guns drawn, and right by the Chevy she’s playing a deadly game. As she keeps maneuvering the vehicle, ignoring officers’ commands, almost hitting one of them, they open fire.

Jeans was hit in the arm and jaw. However, 19-year-old Ashley Patterson was struck in the head and back, suffering life-threatening wounds as well as losing the baby she was carrying.

While some are advocating for the carjackers as victims of police violence, we have to wonder why they don’t seem as concerned about what these teenagers’ victims went through. After all, having your vehicle taken at gunpoint, not knowing if you’ll be shot or not, isn’t exactly a walk in the park.
