A deadly, rolling shootout erupted in Pierce County, Washington recently over a stolen trailer hooked to a pickup truck. Some people decide to take the law into their own hands when someone steals a car or something else significant from them. But the risk such a confrontation might cost the victim their life can’t be ignored.
Washington man busted for chasing down his stolen truck.
One witness to the shooting who lives in the area told KING 5 he heard multiple gunshots as people in two trucks battled it out while driving down the road. In an intersection the gold truck T-boned the white Ford F-250, which had the stolen trailer hitched to it.
When police arrived at the scene, they found one man dead outside the Ford pickup. A second man with bullet wounds was found in the F-250’s backseat. That man was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
Exactly what was in the trailer that was worth killing for, let alone risking one’s life, isn’t entirely clear. Footage from KING 5 shows some work tools on the roadway, so that might have been what was at stake.
Not a lot of other details, like how the victim found the suspects, where the trailer was stolen, etc. were made available by authorities. They did disclose one suspect, the driver of the F-250, was still on the run, possibly with a gunshot wound.
A second man who ran from the scene was found, and so was a woman, although it’s not clear which truck there were inside during the chase.
Everyone needs to gauge for themselves how they deal with someone stealing their property. But we can honestly say there’s no vehicle, trailer, etc. we can think of that’s worth our life.
