Clown Mask Leads To Fleeing Four Wheel Rider’s Downfall

A clown mask of all things was what led to some suspects who successfully outran a deputy ultimately getting busted. It’s a strange tale out of Payson, Utah that involved some real detective work and the community helping to serve some justice.

A Texas repo man was shot eight times by a debtor.

A Utah County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a pair of men riding on a four wheeler after dark on a city street in Payson. But when she tried pulling the pair over for a citation they took off, leaving the deputy in the dust. However, it’s what they left behind that led to their ultimately getting busted.

That item was a freaky looking clown mask. As the deputy told KSL News, it was distinct enough she thought it might eventually lead to the suspects being found. And she was right.

Some research uncovered that someone wearing the freaky mask, riding a four wheeler, had been spotted at one of the local gas stations. The deputy was able to get security footage, which admittedly is grainy, but it was something.

The sheriff’s office used social media to spread images of the clown mask and the suspect at the gas station around. While some mocked the effort, which almost always happens to law enforcement on social media, someone recognized the suspect and provided a name.

Using that info, the deputy was able to uncover “communications” where the named suspect tells his girlfriend he got into a high-speed chase with a cop while he was riding the four wheeler. While the deputy doesn’t elaborate, knowing how dumb so many criminals are, we’d be willing to bet this was a public social media post, something we see bust criminal cases wide open more often than you might imagine.

Armed with that evidence, the deputy arrested not only the guy for felony fleeing but also the girlfriend after she lied about the incident, hitting her with felony obstruction. Quite appropriately, the guy was wearing a clown mask while doing stupid stuff and that got him busted.

Even better, the four wheeler was allegedly stolen and repainted twice. S
