We’ve all seen plenty of the riced out street racer types literally buzzing around highways like they’re filming a scene in one of the first three Fast and Furious movies. A lot of times these guys in their Hondas, the brand famous for making great lawnmowers, seem to think they’re the fastest thing on the road. So it’s really not a surprise that one of them thought he could outrun Georgia State Patrol.
Watch Georgia troopers toy with a fleeing Honda CBR.
The guy was speeding along Interstate 75 in Atlanta when he realizes he just blew by a trooper who was about to take an exit ramp. Instead, the trooper cuts across the gore point and flips on his lights. Instead of being a reasonable, responsible adult and pulling over, this guy who thinks having exhaust finishers large enough to shove a cantaloupe inside decides it’s better to run.
He gives it all his little four-banger has got as the V-TEC kicks in and he starts weaving through traffic. But the trooper, who can’t tell if he’s chasing a BMW or a Honda, stays on him without being recklessly like our little Vin Diesel wannabe.
While threading the needle transitioning onto another highway, our suspect damages his beloved rice rocket right before blacking out. But what he doesn’t realize is thanks to a lovely invention called the radio, there’s another trooper waiting for him up ahead.
The Honda sounds like an industrial hair dryer as it cruises past the second trooper, who locks on as our suspect gets off and tries his luck on the twisting surface streets, still blacked out. The second trooper throws his cruiser through turns, tires squealing, flogging that Dodge Charger for all it’s worth.
In the meantime, GSP gets an air unit overhead, tracking the Honda’s every reckless turn. The noose tightens on our street racer and he probably thinks he’s winning. But the lead trooper also keeps within a good distance of his quarry, so he’s not exactly smoking the cops.
One stupid move results in a collision that tears up the Honda, a shower of sparks shooting out from the chassis as it slows way down and the lead trooper gets right up on it. Does the guy realize he’s caught, then pulls over? Nope, he tries to keep running, his damaged car not cooperating, veering off the road and almost into some trees.
While the driver was able to get away on foot, he left his phone behind in the car. When the trooper called the registered owner, that phone rang and showed the trooper’s number, so it’s not hard to guess who was driving. Criminals sure are dumb.
