Street racing has always been a dumb idea, especially on roads with plenty of traffic. Now a young man is learning not only did his friend die while racing him on the interstate, he’s facing serious charges. This is yet another reason why we tell kids to just take it to the track instead of racing on public roads.

Watch a husband and wife get pulled over after street racing each other.

During the alleged street race on I-15 in Everett, Washington an 18-year-old driver crashed into the back of a semi-truck and died. His friend, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the scene of the accident.

Dashcam footage taken by a driver and shared by KING 5 shows an Infiniti G37 chased by a Dodge Challenger fly by, allegedly at over 100 mph. Both cars weave around slower traffic further down the interstate, “swimming” as some kids call it.

It was the Infiniti that hit the semi-truck. Later, footage from the same dashcam shows the vehicle in flames on the shoulder of the interstate, the Challenger pulled off to the side as well. This is the reality of these thrill-seeking, illegal activities.

To the shock of nobody, KING 5 says the arrested Dodge Challenger driver has a record of reckless behavior behind the wheel. It’s like some people just don’t want to learn the lesson that driving like that on public roads is dangerous and a horrible idea.

In the meantime, Washington State Police is asking for dashcam footage from anyone else who was driving on I-5 when the two street racers blasted past them. It sounds like they’re building a case against the one driver.

Trust us, the fees and such associated with racing at a track are cheap in comparison.
