Chevy Lied About C8 Corvette ZR1 Performance

It seems Chevy hasn’t exactly been honest about the new 2025 C8 Corvette ZR1 and its performance specs. Depending on your disposition, that’s either not shocking at all or is enough to bowl you over. But the truth has finally been revealed.

New car prices slightly decreased last month.

Unfortunately, automakers sometimes lie to make their products seem more desirable to consumers. But enthusiasts can be pretty good at ferreting those little fibs out. In this case, Chevy’s lies made the C8 ZR1 sound slower than it is in reality.

That’s right, instead of trying to overstate the supercar’s performance, the bowtie crew actually went conservative on specs. We love when automakers do that because it sets expectations lower, then the actual car blows them away.

And the 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 certainly does that. Car and Driver tested it out and found the thing is the quickest rear-wheel-drive car it’s ever tested, blowing away the Mclaren 750S, which previously held that illustrious title.

Since the C8 ZR1 Corvette is about half the price of the McLaren 750S, that’s even more impressive.

According to Chevy, the new ZR1 does 0 to 60 mph in a very quick 2.3 seconds. But Car and Driver found it does that gallop in 2.2 seconds. A tenth of a second is a big deal, especially when you’re hovering at just over two seconds.

The supercar does 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 9.5 seconds at 149 mph.

There are plenty of other impressive tidbits about the new American supercar. There’s a tire temperature readout on the dash, handy for knowing when you can really juice it and when the tire compound is too hard to handle the ZR1’s mighty power.

It pulls 1.13 g in tight corners and stops in about the same distance as the C8 Z06 Corvette, which is impressive. But good luck getting your hands on one because supply is tight and demand is high.
