Cellphone footage of a Ford Mustang crashing while whipping around a mountain road in Wyoming leaves us just shaking our heads. After all, it just had to be a Mustang doing one of the most Mustang things ever.
Acura Integra Type R on bald tires wrecks bad on canyon road.
The accident happened on Beartooth Highway (WY 212) east of Yellowstone National Park on August 31. Of course, this last weekend was a busy one in the area, as it was in many outdoor recreation sites.
Someone was standing on the side of the highway taking a video of the scenery when they inadvertently captured the crash on camera. Wyoming Highway Patrol subsequently shared the footage.
In it, you see a black S550 Mustang GT blow past the camera before entering a sweeping turn as the road drops in elevation. You can hear the Coyote V8 snarling as the driver pushes the pony car hard all the way to the beginning of the turn.
The driver slows down enough to get the muscle car through the apex just fine. However, the Mustang starts accelerating too much coming out of the turn and that’s when it shoots off the side of the road before flipping onto its roof.
It appears the Ford was over the yellow line right before it crashed. With an SUV coming in the opposite direction, it’s likely the driver panicked, veered over, but overcorrected and ate it on the shoulder.
The best part of the video is how the person filming just keeps it rolling after the crash, taking in the scenery like nothing happened. There’s no exclamation of disbelief in what they just witnessed, nobody off-camera saying anything about calling the police, not even zooming in on the wrecked Mustang.
That person was in the moment, just enjoy the beauty of God’s creation, not a care in the world.
