It’s a new week and we already have a Mustang crashing at a car meet to show you all. It happened at a gathering in Texas, with the pony car wrecking out trying to show off while leaving the parking lot, of course. But the worst part is the vehicle still had its paper temporary tags.
Ford releases a cringe Mustang marketing campaign.
The driver of the red Mustang tries spinning the tires while turning out of the parking lot. But the guy obviously has no idea what he’s doing, producing plenty of squeals but no tire smoke. That doesn’t stop him from giving the muscle car plenty of throttle.
But as he’s finishing the turn, the guy lifts his foot off the accelerator suddenly, a rookie mistake which causes the Ford to veer left suddenly. Instead of using the throttle to steer out of the slide, the guy slams on the brakes transferring more of the weight off the rear drive wheels.
Then he slams the Mustang onto and over the curb, similar to what we saw a guy do with a nice Shelby GT500 last week.
Fortunately, it seems the driver didn’t do too much damage to his brand new Mustang. He drives off slowly after getting out and inspecting it. The cameraman says something about the axle being broken, but we can’t tell if it is or not.
In the past, all these Mustang crashes were blamed by some on the solid rear axle Ford’s pony car featured. But this car is an S550, as was the GT500 from last week and quite a few other crashes we’ve covered.
We think the bigger issue is a lot of guys get a Mustang as their first high-powered, rear-wheel-drive car. They have no idea how to drive it and so they make dumb mistakes like this person in the video. These pony cars don’t handle like their mom’s Toyota Camry.
