It’s always horrible to see dream cars destroyed, like what happened with this car transport fire in Chattanooga, Tennessee recently. Two C8 Corvettes, two McLaren 720S, and an Audi R8 were all destroyed in no time.
Yet another destructive street takeover held in Oakland.
According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, the semi-truck was driving down the interstate when someone alerted him that the trailer was smoking. The driver pulled off the interstate and parked at a QT gas station to check things out.
When he opened the trailer, he found the cars were on fire, so he called 911 for help.
By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. One of the C8 Corvettes was only partly damaged, but the other vehicles look like they were mostly melted in the inferno.
We don’t know for sure how long the transport truck had been driving and if the cars had been driven before that, which would’ve contributed to the fire. It’s possible one of them suffered an electrical short, or any number of other things sparked the blaze.
Obviously, the cars supplied plenty of fuel for the fire, especially once the gas tanks were compromised, and flames were hot enough to melt the vehicles.
This incident demonstrates why it’s key to work with reputable transport companies which are licensed, bonded, and insured. After all, even if all safety protocols are followed, accidents do happen and your vehicle could be completely destroyed in transit, not to mention when it’s being loaded or unloaded.
Cutting corners by going with a cheaper, questionable car transport company could end up costing you big time.
Even though this incident was horrific, the driver of the semi-truck wasn’t injured.
