Minivan Rolls Onto Roof After Colliding With Dodge Challenger in Fresno

A traffic collision in northeast Fresno Friday morning left a Toyota minivan overturned after it collided with a Dodge Challenger at a busy intersection, police said.

A Rollover at a Busy Intersection

The crash happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Fresno Street and Nees Avenue. Authorities say the woman driving the minivan and the man driving the Dodge were involved in a collision that caused the minivan to roll over and come to rest on its roof.

Photos from the scene showed significant damage to both vehicles. The minivan appeared to have sustained side-impact damage, while the Dodge Challenger showed damage to its front end. The positioning of the vehicles and the visible damage suggested a forceful impact, though investigators haven’t yet determined exactly how the collision occurred.

Injuries Not Considered Life-Threatening

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash and assessed both drivers at the scene. Police say the injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening, though the extent of those injuries wasn’t immediately clear. No additional vehicles were reported involved.

Cleanup and Investigation

Traffic at the intersection was affected for a time as officers secured the area and crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the roadway. The overturned minivan required special equipment to be righted and removed safely, and both vehicles were eventually towed from the scene as traffic was gradually restored.

Authorities say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no information yet released about whether speed, traffic signals, or other factors contributed to the collision, and no word on whether any citations have been issued.

The crash is a reminder of the risks tied to busy intersections during peak commute hours, when higher traffic volumes and visibility or timing issues can quickly lead to serious accidents. Police say they’ll continue reviewing evidence from the scene, including vehicle damage and roadway conditions, with further updates expected once investigators determine what led to the collision.
