Corvette Slams Into Florida Yard Minutes After Kids Were Playing There

Children had been playing with chalk in a Palmetto Bay, Florida front yard only moments before a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray tore through the family’s fence and slammed into their parked boat — a near-miss that’s since pushed city officials to consider new safety measures for the intersection. No one was hurt, but the holiday-evening crash left residents shaken and repairs mounting.

A Curb-Jumping Crash Caught on Camera

The crash happened in the evening along Southwest 88th Court, where a black C8 Corvette was heading south and failed to slow for an intersection. Security camera footage from the home shows the car jumping the curb and crossing the front lawn before slamming into a black wooden fence, with the force of the impact carrying the vehicle forward into a boat stored on the property.

No Injuries, But Extensive Damage

The footage shows the Corvette coming to a brief stop after striking the boat before reversing back onto the grass. Authorities confirmed that neither the driver nor the passenger in the Corvette was hurt, and no one inside the home was injured despite the force of the collision.

The vehicle, later identified as belonging to a neighbor, sustained extensive damage to its front end and passenger side. The boat and fence were also badly damaged, leaving the family facing significant repairs.

Not the First Close Call at This Address

The incident has renewed concerns about traffic safety in the neighborhood. According to local officials, this wasn’t the first serious incident near the home — about six months earlier, the homeowner’s husband was struck while backing their Ford F-150 out of the driveway, adding to residents’ worries about speeding and driver behavior in the area.

Palmetto Bay Weighs Safety Fixes

Palmetto Bay officials say the crash has prompted a review of possible safety improvements near the intersection, with city leaders considering measures like speed bumps or a small roundabout to slow traffic and reduce the risk of future accidents.

Residents say the timing of the crash — on a major holiday and so close to where children had just been playing — underscores the urgency of taking action. City officials say they’re working to identify solutions before another serious incident happens.
