An Arctic White Chevrolet Corvette C8 convertible ran multiple red lights, refused to stop for police, and ended up on its roof inside a building — all in the span of about five minutes.
How the Chase Started
According to the Houston Police Department, officers first spotted the Corvette speeding on West Montgomery Road and running through multiple red lights. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and accelerated instead, leading police on a pursuit through northwest Houston that lasted roughly five minutes.
The Crash That Ended It
Authorities say the chase ended after the Corvette suffered a tire failure, causing the driver to lose control. The car overturned and slammed into the Garden Oaks Lodge #1306 Masonic Lodge on West Little York Road around 2 a.m., coming to rest on its roof with significant front-end damage. Rescue crews had to cut off the passenger-side door to reach the occupants inside.
Who Was Involved
The driver and passenger, both believed to be in their early 30s, were transported to a hospital and listed in stable condition. The Corvette itself wasn’t reported stolen, but police confirmed the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for aggregate felony theft and engaging in organized crime — a detail that may explain why the driver chose to run rather than pull over for what started as a routine traffic stop.
The Damage Left Behind
Video from the scene showed the Corvette’s front end torn apart and separated from the rest of the car as it was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck. The lodge’s brick exterior sustained visible damage, with at least one window dislodged and part of the interior wall exposed to the outside.
What’s Next
The case remains under investigation, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will determine what additional charges, if any, will be filed once that review is complete — charges that would come on top of whatever consequences follow from the driver’s existing outstanding warrant.
