A Honk Allegedly Triggered an Orlando Road Rage Attack on a Pregnant Driver and an Officer

group of police in the middle of the road

Police say the confrontation started with nothing more than a car horn — and ended with two drivers allegedly attacked, an officer allegedly bitten, and a $20,000 bond.

What Investigators Say Happened

The incident unfolded on Conroy Road near Millenia Boulevard, where authorities say a 35-year-old pregnant woman was driving a van with her baby secured in the back seat. According to investigators, after she turned from Conroy Road onto Millenia Boulevard and honked her horn, an Orlando woman identified as Mandolyn Shafferbrockwell became upset, yelled at the driver, climbed onto the hood of the van, and opened the vehicle’s door. Police say she then struck the driver in the face and chest.

A Second Driver, and Then an Officer

Authorities say a second driver was also attacked during the incident, though details of that confrontation haven’t been released. When officers arrived and attempted to take Shafferbrockwell into custody, police reported that she bit one of the responding officers during the arrest — an allegation that, if substantiated, would add resisting-arrest-related charges on top of the initial road rage confrontation.

Where the Case Stands

Shafferbrockwell was arrested and booked into jail, then released after posting a $20,000 bond pending further court proceedings. She’s expected to face charges related to battery and resisting law enforcement. Authorities haven’t released details about the extent of any injuries to the drivers or the officer, and as with any pending case, these remain allegations at this stage — Shafferbrockwell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The investigation remains active as the case moves through the legal system.
