Sometimes you just strike gold, which is absolutely what narcotics detectives from St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana hit lately. Following up on a tip about drug activity at a house, the detectives made contact with two people there on October 9. Based on their conversation, detectives searched the house, finding two allegedly stolen C7 Corvette Z06s.

The sheriff’s office says one of the C7 Z06s is valued at over $93,000 which we believe considering where Corvette prices are these days. That sports car was reported stolen back in July from Fort Worth, Texas.
As for the other Z06, it has a market value of over $78,000 and had reportedly been stolen from a dealership in Plano, Texas back in August. Detectives noted that the VIN plates were swapped out for a different number, an attempt to “rebirth” the vehicle so an unsuspecting buyer doesn’t realize they’re purchasing a stolen car.
With the roaring market success of the C8 Corvette lineup and the release of the new Z06, there’s intense interest in the C7 generation. That has helped push prices up, much to the dismay of enthusiasts who wanted to get one at a decent discount.
You can see in the photo detectives found a nice pile of marijuana all packaged up and ready to go. They say the total weight of the seized substance was over 22 pounds and has a street value of about $100,000.
Detectives also seized assorted drug paraphernalia, three handguns, and $26,900 they believe was collected from illegal drug sales.
This bust doesn’t really shock us but we’re glad it was made. There’s a strong tie between drug trafficking/sales and car theft, more than most people seem to realize. The same is true of human trafficking, shoplifting, and other crimes. This is why everyone should be concerned with car theft. Taking a bite out of it will crimp other illegal activities.
