Repeat Offender In Dodge Challenger Runs From Police In Albuquerque

Estimated read time 2 min read

Police have been hunting a repeat offender (a convicted felon, no less) who was spotted several times in a stolen red Dodge Challenger. They even tried chasing him down before but the man got away. But he was recently arrested during an operation pulled off by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Watch a truck driver expertly end a police chase.

You can see in the footage from KRQE which we’ve shared that deputies got a bead on the Challenger’s location and 33-year-old Jude Shulte as he visited a gas station. Using a helicopter, they were able to track his movements from there.

Once they felt everyone was in place, a deputy spiked the Mopar muscle car’s tires but Shulte ran for it anyway. Some of these criminals just don’t know when to quit.

Shulte went for it, driving recklessly, blowing through at least one red light as if he could escape yet again. Maybe because it worked before he thought it was worth a shot. But this time deputies were ready and had plenty of backup.

In desperation, Shulte drove the wrong way on a major road for a bit. We see suspects do this because they either know or have heard that some law enforcement agencies will automatically call of a chase if the get reckless enough.

Instead, deputies stay with him and when Shulte tries turning the Challenger around they swarm with several trucks, trapping the American muscle car that doesn’t even belong to him.

But Shulte still doesn’t surrender and just face the consequences of his actions. Instead, deputies have to shoot bean bag rounds through the driver’s window. Feigning surrender, he climbs out with his hands up, then makes a run for it. But deputies must know that trick because they were on him in a hurry.

Deputies arrested the passenger and reportedly found meth as well as fentanyl in the car.

While it’s great to see this guy arrested, what’s even better is KRQE reporting that the judge agreed he needs to be kept in custody pending a trial. The guy has a long history of violent offenses and has slipped away in the past.
