Usually when we see cases where a rare, classic Ferrari has been stolen its somewhere like Malibu, California, north of Chicago, the Toronto metro, etc. The last place we’d expect to see something like a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE stolen is in Graves County, Kentucky. But that’s allegedly what one man in the area has been accused of doing.

For those who don’t know, Graves County is in the southwest portion of the state and isn’t exactly a booming area with about 36,000 people living there. It’s a place where tractor theft is far more likely than someone stealing a Ferrari.
However, police allege 45-year-old Ricky Cook not only stole the ’62 250 GTE but that he also took a 1951 Ford Red Belly Tractor, 1979 Ford 6600 Tractor, and a 1984 Chevy truck.
He was arrested after a short pursuit which reportedly hit speeds of over 100 mph, when Cook apparently just suddenly stopped. Maybe he called his attorney who wisely told him that running only makes things worse.
According to Hagerty, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE in Good condition is worth about $360,000. We don’t know the condition of the classic 2+2, but that combined with the other vehicles stolen is easily over $100,000.
Police say Cook sold the Ferrari to a dealer from New York but failed to ship the car. He allegedly later sold and delivered it to a dealer in Texas. But the classic vehicle apparently wasn’t his to sell, with investigators alleging ownership documents were forged.
Now Cook is facing a string of charges, including not only theft of property value at over $10,000 but under $1 million and theft by deception over $10,000 but also possession of handguns by a felon and possession of firearms by a felon.
