It’s a sad day when a parent has to step aside and let real consequences hit their child. That’s what a mother in Toledo, Ohio did recently when she recognized two of her teenage sons in surveillance footage as they and another teen allegedly stole a Dodge Charger from a car dealership.

Here’s another mother who wants her car thief son locked up.

The disappointed mother, who says her sons got involved with the wrong crowd, called police to turn them in rather than just have a stern talking with them. She told WTVG had she not turned her sons in, she would’ve felt guilty knowing they were out doing what they shouldn’t.

In the meantime, police are searching for the boys who ran away from home. It sounds like they’ve made a lot of bad life decisions and they’re going to face serious consequences sooner or later.

Mom is upset that family, friends, and people in the community are allegedly sheltering her delinquent sons, helping them stay ahead of police. We see this sort of thing way too often. In fact, many theft rings actively recruit underage youth to boost vehicles since they know prosecutors and judges will take it easy on them so they can keep stealing.

Perhaps some believe they’re helping the two teenagers by assisting them with breaking the law. Even though their mother is doing something which might be viewed as hurting her sons, we believe she ultimately has their long-term wellbeing in mind.

With tips from “people on the street” the owner of the dealership was able to locate the stolen muscle car backed into the garage of an abandoned house. Bodycam footage of the recovery seems to show the Dodge in overall good condition, so the owner was lucky the outcome wasn’t finding it chopped into pieces or never locating it.

Do you think this mother did the right thing, calling and turning her sons in?
