Reward Offered In Hellcat Dealership Heist

Estimated read time 2 min read

Completely ignoring a beautiful fourth-gen Dodge Viper, thieves clad in masks, hoodies, and gloves made off with three Dodge Challenger Hellcats at a dealership in Alliance, Ohio recently. Many have marveled at their lack of interest in the rare sports car, focusing instead on the muscle cars, but we’re not the least bit shocked.

Florida man pulls out a gun during a road rage incident.

After all, the thieves look like they’re teenagers, likely having been recruited by an organized theft ring and trained on breaking into dealerships as well as boosting modern vehicles. They were probably told to only take Hellcats because demand on the black market for those is high, which is why they didn’t even glance at the Viper.

In other words, these are dumb kids doing as they’re told, believing they’re living free. It’s quite ironic when you really think about it.

To keep themselves from being seen by anyone outside the showroom, the thieves crawled on their hands and knees, checking different areas of the dealership for keys until they found ones for three Dodge Challenger Hellcats.

Wally Armour, who owns and runs the dealership, told Fox 8 as an extra security measure for the red hot Hellcats, he had employees park them sandwiched between Jeep Grand Cherokees. That was supposed to stop theft even if criminals got the keys.

It didn’t work, but it did slow the thieves down. After puzzling about the situation for a bit, they pushed the SUVs out of the way, working against the transmissions which were still in park. Then they drove off in the Mopar muscle cars, disappearing in the darkness of the early morning.

The dealership is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and felony conviction of the thieves, plus the recovery of the Hellcats. So far it appears there have been no developments, so if you have info it’s a great way to make some quick, easy cash.
