A business in South Florida suffered a huge loss after a semi-truck and trailer loaded with about $1.5 million in Porsche race cars was stolen. The race team is asking for the public’s help in finding the stolen vehicles and equipment.
Couple driving a Lamborghini targeted by kidnappers.
The heist went down in the early morning hours of August 25 with everything captured on surveillance cameras. You can see in the footage shared by local news station NBC 6 two vehicles, one of them a cargo van, showed up at Rennsport One’s facility, then both left.
A short while later, one of the semi-trucks with a trailer attached drove off from the complex. Inside were four Porsche race cars pictured, each one wearing a distinct livery. It’s quite possible the thieves have already altered the appearance of these cars in an effort to disguise them.
Note in the footage the trailer the cars were in has the official Rennsport One logo in big lettering down both sides. That’s going to be harder to disguise or cover up and could serve as a big clue in recovering what was stolen.
Not only were the race cars inside the trailer, so were parts for them and motorsports gear, just like what you’d find in any team’s trailer.
Rennsport One did hire a private investigator to look for the stolen trailer. The semi tractor was located, but the trailer is nowhere to be found. A GPS tracker installed on it led to an area, but the cars and trailer weren’t there.
We’d love to see this race team get their stuff back. Anyone familiar with motorsports knows the old statement that you only need five million to make one million racing is true, so to have someone steal so many expensive and necessary items is a huge blow.
