Dumb car thieves are definitely a thing, especially when it comes to a Florida man who locked himself inside a C8 Corvette he was trying to steal. When the owner discovered the suspect, he begged to be let out before police arrived on the scene.
Learn the story of the first stolen C8 Corvette Z06.
Even better, the intended victim took cellphone video of the trapped criminal as he lectured the guy about the moral bankruptcy of stealing. We love that the would-be thief got a lesson, both in verbal form and now in the justice system as he faces criminal charges.
The owner of the C8 Corvette believes the guy couldn’t understand why nothing in the sports car would work after he found a way into the cabin. Just like in a lot of modern vehicles, everything stays inert unless the fob is detected inside or someone knows how to hack the electronic ignition. That includes opening the doors.
What the guy didn’t know is there’s a way to open the doors manually in a C8 Corvette. Instead, you can see the look on his face as he truly believes he is completely trapped and at the mercy of the very person he sought to victimize. That’s some sweet ironic justice there.
This whole thing went down in a parking garage in Miami Beach, reports WPLG. The victim had just gone to breakfast and was returning to his ‘Vette when he saw the man inside the vehicle and was shocked. That’s when he started recording video using his phone.
In this situation the victim did the right thing, calling police and letting them come to deal with the would-be thief. While it might be tempting to rough someone like this up, it’s better to allow authorities to take them into custody.
