Some cops really do put it all on the line to help people, like this Macomb County deputy in Michigan who jumped from a cruiser into a truck after the driver suffered a medical episode. It’s a move many are calling heroic and rightfully so.
Thief steals car while owner inflates the tires.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, two deputies were dispatched to a stretch of road where witnesses described seeing a silver GMC Sierra driving erratically. They spotted the truck quickly, which was creeping along at 5 mph, and pulled alongside with their lights and sirens going.
But the 63-year-old driver didn’t stop and appeared to be in a daze. He eventually rolled down his window and tapped the brakes, but appeared unable to stop the truck himself. That’s when the deputy who was riding shotgun jumped into the Sierra and hit the brakes herself.
The stunt, which was captured on a traffic camera, is like something you see out of an action movie, although with those it would be at higher speeds and probably full of CGI. Even at the low speed the cruiser and trucker were traveling, one wrong move would’ve resulted in the deputy getting crushed, possibly killed. Her bravery is inspiring and reassuring.
Firefighters showed up on the scene and were able to treat the driver, who was in fact suffering a medical episode. We can only imagine how scary the situation was for him, but thankfully the two deputies were there to literally save the day.
It was fortunate that the man hadn’t pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake during his medical episode, otherwise this situation would’ve had a much different outcome. That, combined with the deputies’ quick thinking, prevented tragedy.
