Living in the Phoenix metro area means fog lights are almost never necessary. Having previously lived in places where snow, heavy rain, and fog were common, I came to appreciate them, but conditions here rarely call for them.
Even so, I keep noticing drivers running their fog lights constantly, both here and elsewhere. Used in clear weather, they can dazzle oncoming traffic and serve no real purpose, which is exactly why they should be reserved for the conditions they’re built for.
