To hear some people talk, there’s no way those archaic dinosaur cars most police drive could possibly take down someone fleeing in a Tesla. We haven’t seen too many chases involving Teslas, but the few we have witnessed just like this one in Atlanta, ends with the so-called future of the automobile getting taken out by the past in what we would call poetic justice.
Learn why police are getting warrants and seizing Teslas.
For sure the Tesla is cooking as a shooting suspect flees Atlanta Police on surface streets. Perhaps this person decided the electric vehicle was the best method of escape because he follows Elon on X or has some friends who just love their Teslas and know no other vehicle has parking sensors or heated seats or other common features (if you know, you know).
Even though this guy is hauling, the lead pursuit cruiser is maintaining visual contact, despite having to slow down at intersections while the suspect just blasts through them. Even if he were to get too far ahead of that unit, Atlanta Police Department’s Phoenix Air Unit is tracking everything from above, so this guy was never going to get away.
We know, the Tesla fan club already knows even a helicopter can’t take down their beloved EVs, clearly confusing them for a Dodge Hellcat.
Anyway, this guy comes across three lanes of stopped traffic at a light, so he swerves into the oncoming lanes to blast through yet another intersection. What he doesn’t see until the last second is some dumb dinosaur car, we think maybe a Nissan Altima, making a left turn into the lane he’s occupying illegally.
Despite having all kinds of advanced driver’s aids onboard, the Tesla doesn’t avoid clipping the oncoming sedan. From there the driver swerves, overcorrects, swerves, overcorrects, and so on until the EV just comes to a stop in the middle of the road.
That’s when our shooting suspect ditches the failed future and instead tries man’s oldest method of transportation: running. But even that fails him and thankfully so.
