Arkansas State Police don’t play around when people run from traffic stops, and they’re even more intense when someone’s committing a worse offense. When a Chevy Tahoe suspected of trafficking drugs gets away from Oklahoma Highway Patrol and crosses the state line, ASP troopers are ready to take the big SUV down hard.
Watch a drug dealer in a Chevy Tahoe beat on Michigan State Police.
We start with our camera car sitting at highway on-ramp, waiting for the Tahoe to fly by. When it does, the trooper begins his pursuit. Immediately, it becomes obvious this driver has experience, maybe even some training.
He floats around on the road like a pro, playing Pac-Man at one point (straddling the lane line), and getting real loose once the trooper pulls up alongside. But it’s when the suspect driver suddenly hits his brakes, catching the trooper off guard, that it becomes obvious ASP is dealing with more than the common criminal.
This guy understands his Tahoe won’t outrun an ASP Charger in a flat-out run, so after the hard braking maneuver he tries getting funky on an exit ramp to another highway. Still, the trooper PITs the Chevy, but the guy just spins around and recovers, taking off again.
From there it’s more craziness with the suspect taking another exit ramp, then crossing the open median on a freeway. Unlike so many people we see fleeing from ASP, this guy is going to think outside the box, pushing troopers.
Every time the trooper tries to line up for another PIT, the guy starts swerving around. Finally, he does another hard brake, the trooper almost flying past as the suspect cuts over the median again. The lead trooper then crashes into the back of the Tahoe, crumping his hood but barely making an impact on the SUV, which takes off again.
More troopers join into the chase, all of them realizing the suspect is ready to mess them up just like he did their colleague. Thankfully, the Tahoe gets caught in a well-executed spike strip trap. But even as the driver’s-side front tire rapidly deflates, the driver pushes the Chevy to high speeds.
We don’t care how good of a driver you are, once a tire starts to come apart and you’re suddenly on a bare wheel rim, maintaining control becomes a real fight. Realizing it’s a lost cause, the driver steers off the road, probably not realizing he’s driving into a deep ditch.
The guy wastes no time running and apparently makes it to a house where he tries stealing a car, but eventually he’s captured. After searching the Tahoe, ASP finds 240 lbs. of meth and 2.2 lbs. of fentanyl, making this a big bust.
