There’s a common assumption that only a Dodge Hellcat or an exotic from Europe could outrun a state trooper, but that sells plenty of other machines short. The truth is that a number of cars have the muscle to pull away from a pursuit, and the Shelby GT500 sits firmly in that group.
The Mustang’s supercharged firepower makes it a serious performer in a straight line. Of course, raw speed on its own doesn’t make outrunning police a smart idea, but it does showcase just how much capability is packed into the GT500.
