Chevy Tri Five Featured On Jay Leno Could Be Yours

For a cool $195,000 you could snag this heavily modified Tri Five which appeared on Jay Leno’s Garage. We know that’s a lot of cash and there are some amazing rides you could get for that much or less, including some supercars and crazy muscle cars, but some would probably have this Chevy.

You have to see Jaguar’s hideous concept car to believe it’s real.

The owner of this 1955 Chevy Bel Air says it contains over 100 modifications from the factory specs. One of the biggest changes is the Roadster Shop chassis this Tri Five rides on, which doesn’t come cheap. Other chassis mods include 13-inch Wilwood brakes with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-piston in the rear, Heidt’s suspension up front and a four-link in the rear, and coilovers for all four corners.

You’ll notice the front clip tilts and it can be completely removed. The dash is also removable and there are other custom changes to the firewall, console, etc. But the iconic look of this Tri Five has been overall preserved.

As for the engine, it’s a 730ci V12 hemi V12 marine motor that’s been bored, stroked, and fitted with a solid lifter cam (but the other internals are apparently stock). Thanks to that, a custom open plenum intake manifold, this mill is pushing a claimed 620-horsepower and 713 lb.-ft. of torque on 87 octane gas.

Backing that is a GM 4L80E 4-speed transmission and a 9-inch Ford rear. This thing has obviously been made for hooking up and ripping down a track while simultaneously looking good doing it. We don’t know what its quarter mile time is, but that would be an excellent question to ask the seller, if you’re serious about this ride. Obviously, it’s not for everyone, especially with the high cost, but someone will find this sings to their heart. Is that someone you?
