Looking at the mangled remains of this C8 Corvette after it slammed head-on into a pole, one would assume the crash was fatal. Astonishingly, the driver survived, perhaps aided by the mid-engine layout keeping the powertrain from intruding into the cabin.
The Corvette’s structure appeared to do its job in protecting the occupant. The wreck serves as a striking example of how modern engineering can mean the difference between tragedy and survival in even the most violent collisions.
