A man in Ontario, Canada shared dashcam footage of a Toyota RAV4 hitting his Honda Civic head-on in an apparent road rage case. It’s a bizarre exchange which ends with the aggressor running the victim off the road and smashing in his door. Honestly, this is one of the weirdest road rage aggressions we’ve ever seen.
A new road sign is being blamed for increased road rage at an intersection.
We know people go into their lizard brain and do bizarre things, and in this case that seems to apply to not only the road rager but also the victim. The dashcam footage segments shared by CTV News doesn’t show how everything started. Instead, it opens up with the victim on the phone with 911 and panicking while stopped in the road as the RAV4 rams the car head-on.
Mind you, it’s not a full-speed, hard, head-on collision, which in a way is also bizarre. And the victim full-on panics, repeating the same thing over and over, including, “I’m in danger.” He also tells 911 he’s in a Honda Accord but is clearly driving a Civic (that’s a pet peeve of ours).
The victim reverses his car as the Toyota keeps trying to hit him, then he spins out and gets away. But the aggressor chases him down, essentially pitting his Honda onto the opposite shoulder. For good measure, the road rager T-bones the Civic at least once, concaving the driver’s door some.
Our first thought is what did the Honda driver do to make the Toyota driver so angry? Then we’ve thought about people who rage out over anything or nothing on public roads these days and realize there doesn’t always have to be a “reason.”
But in an interview with CTV News, the victim says he flashed his high beams at the RAV4 after the crossover swerved into oncoming traffic briefly.
Finally, it’s bizarre to see someone in a Toyota RAV4 of all things attacking another car in a road rage fight. After all, the pint-size crossovers are often driven by grandmas and “dog moms” and they’re so small they wouldn’t damage a lot of other vehicles. But this guy in his Honda Civic was apparently attractive prey to whomever was the aggressor.
It’s great the victim wasn’t seriously hurt, because it could’ve turned out so much worse. But this is still a seriously bizarre case of road rage.
