Mercedes S-Class Struggles In Houston Snowstorm

People in Houston, Texas are dealing with an unprecedented event after a snowstorm dropped several inches on the city, including a Mercedes S-Class driver captured on camera by a news crew. While broadcasting live, a reporter covering the storm came across the luxury sedan as it was stuck on the side of a road after sliding off.

Ford Mustang tries doing donuts in an icy parking lot and it doesn’t end well.

Being a Good Samaritan and probably knowing it would make for a more entertaining broadcast, the reporter from KPRC 2 helped push the Mercedes back onto the snow-covered road. As the guy pushes on the trunk lid, you can hear the V8 screaming and see those rear wheels spinning like crazy, failing to get traction.

We know a lot of people living in places where it snows a lot are just laughing at this and for good reason. While you can drive a rear-wheel-drive car in the snow, you have to be carefully and have a little more skill to do it with control.

But with any vehicle, even if it has four-wheel or all-wheel drive, the tires need to be up to the task. Summer tires just won’t cut it. Underinflated tires won’t provide traction, some with those with worn tread. We don’t know what the story is with this S-Class, but it obviously was getting little traction.

The reporter takes a break when he can’t help get the Mercedes going and explains they’re on a big overpass that’s sloped. If you know snow and ice, you know overpasses are famous for being extra slippery. The reporter notes anyone who goes too slow doesn’t make it up the slope, another thing people without snow experience don’t seem to understand.

With another man’s help, the reporter gets the S-Class off the snowy shoulder. But the Mercedes immediately spins around in the middle of the interstate, coming to a rest pointing toward the median.

It looks like a great time for people to hunker down at home.
