Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Pulls Interesting Move Running From Police

In police chases, we’ve seen suspects do some wild things, but this Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT driver does something while running from Viriginia State Police. That might have been due to sheer panic, immaturity, or lack of driving experience. After all, the guy behind the wheel is only 23 and he clearly doesn’t have great skills.

Watch a street takeover suspect get one of the quickest PIT maneuvers we’ve ever seen.

The dashcam footage starts with the trooper observing the Jeep driving recklessly on Interstate 495 in Arlington. Once the driver notices a cop is behind him, but without any lights or sirens going, he fakes getting off the interstate, cuts across solid lines without signaling, then tries pushing the SUV to gap the trooper.

But he can’t shake the VSP cruiser even as he tears down the interstate at speeds well beyond 100 mph, weaving through traffic. Honestly, it’s not much of a getaway. But the driver turns to his secret weapon to get away: blacking out.

That’s right, while driving down a well-lit interstate in a white SUV, the guy shuts off his lights as if the trooper suddenly won’t be able to see him anymore. As you’d expect, this has absolutely no effect on the pursuit, but the kid behind the wheel probably thinks it’s extra sneaky.

After a while of not ditching the trooper on the interstate, the suspect gets off and tries his luck on surface streets. Even after trying to fake out his pursuer about which turns he’ll take, the Jeep driver not only can’t pull away from the trooper, the gap between them closes up to essentially nothing.

In that moment, the only thing we can think of to understand what happens next is the suspect thinks he’s in a Jeep so it can go anywhere and do anything. He gets behind the trooper, rolls over a solid cement median island. The trooper makes a U-turn and the Grand Cherokee drives over the median again, but only partway and at an odd angle.

Then the Jeep hits the trooper’s cruiser. As the suspect tries driving away, you can see the rear passenger-side wheel is cambered at a sick angle, something obviously breaking with all the crazy island hopping maneuvers. And that ends the chase. It turns out Jeeps can’t take endless abuse without failing – who would’ve thought?
