When most people get caught by a cop doing something they shouldn’t on the road, they pull over, maybe act a little sarcastic, take the ticket, then either do traffic school or try fighting it in court. But Florida Man in his janky Ford Mustang seems to think when he sees lights and hears sirens, that’s an open invitation to break the law and run for it.
Felon fleeing police sends his car flying through the air.
This dashcam footage from Florida Highway Patrol is really something else. The trooper seems to have an instinct that something’s off with the crappy pony car. We’ve been told by cops they do develop an intuition about such things.

Probably getting nervous, the Mustang driver makes a sudden lane change without signaling, and that’s enough for the trooper to pull him over. Instead, the guy guns it and the chase is on.
While it’s not always true, we’ve found that oftentimes when someone doesn’t take care of the exterior of their car, the mechanicals are in poor condition. That might be why this suspect has trouble ditching the trooper. After all, a poorly maintained ride won’t do well in a police chase.
We can’t deny the guy has some grit, continuing to run even though the trooper is right up on him and the whole effort is obviously futile.
Perhaps that’s why he decides to go the wrong way. When the trooper doesn’t follow, he uses that advantage, turning 360 degrees. Then he goes the wrong way again, turning onto a side road. It’s a dangerous yet clever move.
But the guy comes back to the freeway, probably because the road he took was a dead end. It’s almost like there’s a symbol there or something.
Our suspect keeps going the wrong way, and keeps trying funny moves to ditch the trooper, but he just can’t pull it off. Finally, after getting onto a two-lane side road, the guy does his dumbest trick yet, brake checking the trooper, who ruthlessly rams the Mustang, lifting the back end into the air.
The bumper cover gone and the exhaust jacked up, our little pony keeps fleeing, but not for long.
He brake checks the trooper a second time, because the suspect didn’t learn from the first one, and the trooper hits him again, pitting the Mustang onto the shoulder. After that brutal takedown, the suspect skitters out through the open window, but he gets chased down.
Hopefully that poor Mustang gets put out of its misery.
