A social media influencer in North Texas has been identified as the person behind a series of videos showing exotic and high-performance cars being driven in extremely aggressive ways during what appear to be test drives at dealerships, with the vehicles’ salespeople visibly present in the passenger seats during the dangerous driving. The influencer had been posting the footage online where it attracted significant attention, ultimately providing investigators with substantial evidence of the behavior. Dealers whose vehicles appeared in the content expressed horror and indicated they had no knowledge that the encounters were being filmed for social media purposes.

The case raises serious questions about dealership liability and test drive protocols, as the vehicles were ostensibly being operated within the framework of legitimate test drive appointments. Conducting an actual test drive versus recording content for a social media account about aggressive driving creates a very different legal and ethical context, and dealerships are now reviewing their procedures around test drives and the documentation of customer intentions. The influencer faces potential criminal charges related to reckless operation and fraud if prosecutors determine the test drive appointment was made under false pretenses.
