Scary dashcam video shows the moment a guy is driving on an Alabama highway when he suddenly loses control of his Honda and it rolls seven times onto the shoulder. The crash happens so fast, but you can hear panic in the guy’s voice as he realizes it’s coming.

Being in a serious car accident like this one is enough to leave someone shaken for a long time. Certain individuals struggle to get behind the wheel afterward and it’s understandable why. But having footage like this should help the driver and everyone else examine what went wrong.
First of all, it’s worth noting that at the time of the accident it was raining pretty hard. You can see the driver has his wiper blades turned on. But more importantly, you can see water pooled on the road, creating hazardous conditions.
That alone is a reason to slow way down. You should also make slow, deliberate movements with the steering wheel and try to brake gradually instead of suddenly to avoid losing control.
Does he do that? The guy accelerates on the on-ramp and merges onto the highway. We see him gaining fairly quickly on traffic ahead, so maybe he’s going a little too fast.
Then a pickup truck in front of him lays on its brakes and right after that is when the Honda starts spinning clockwise. We can’t tell for sure, but it seems likely the guy stepped on his brakes too and probably a little too hard.

One thing’s for sure: this crash is a testament to the value of increasing vehicle roof strengths over the years. Many old cars’ roofs crush like a tin can in a rollover, but even after rolling seven times, the Honda’s roof held up with the vehicle coming to a rest on it, too.
That alone probably saved this guy’s life and kept him out of a wheelchair. For that he should be grateful.
