After a man crashed a stolen Dodge Charger in a Houston-area neighborhood, he taunted a witness while being recorded, bragging about how he stole the Mopar. The guy even lifts up the ski mask he was wearing, showing his face, almost like he knew there would be few consequences for his crimes.
Dropped donut leads to a devastating car crash.
Sadly, it turns out the guy is right, almost like he’s been through the system a few times. And that’s the problem: while most people are decent and won’t steal cars no matter what, certain individuals will and once they realize there are light consequences for theft, they’ll do it over and over.
In the cellphone footage taken by the witness, the suspect goes so far as to threaten him, saying he saw which house he came from and will be back later. We hope once authorities track the guy down, he faces consequences for that threat as well as the theft and anything else they can throw at him.
We’ve seen so many cases of car thieves acting like what they do is no big deal, likely because they’ve been caught several times before and not much happened to them. When those types of repeat offenders realize they can make a bunch of money and have fun stealing cars, they look at fines and short stints in jail as just a small cost for doing business.
Until this problem is addressed, the car theft problem which has plagued communities from coast to coast, and swept across many other countries around the globe, will only continue. That means your vehicle could be taken by one of these people who think it’s a big joke, costing you thousands of dollars plus a whole lot of grief all because they don’t want to work a legitimate job.
