We’ve seen some interesting engine swaps, but this 1967 Pontiac Firebird with an L83 donated by a 2019 GMC Yukon really makes us think. Instead of going with a crate LS, the owner of this classic muscle car went a different route. Oh yeah, and this Pontiac is for sale, if you’re interested.
Watch two Corvettes try to race, crashing into each other instead.
The body looks great in the photos with nothing wrong in alignment, gaps, etc. The paint looks great and is unsurprisingly advertised as newly applied. In other words, this ride presents well.

Same goes for the interior, which sports new upholstery, carpeting, door cards, and headliner. The center console comes from a 2018 Chevy Camaro ZL1. However, the backseat, which we believe is also freshly reupholstered, needs to be installed.
Back to the L83 V8: it apparently has just 1,907 miles on it. Same goes for the TR6060 Magnum 6-speed transmission. If we had to guess, we’d say the Yukon was totaled in a crash. The nice thing is you get the modern reliability and fuel injection.
But some people no doubt would’ve gone with a different engine. If we were going the restomod route, there are a lot of mills we’d consider before an EcoTec3, but to each their own. Still, we can see this alone might turn some people off.

With a $45,000 asking price, we also realize some other engine choices would’ve pushed that amount much higher. This car does come with a number of custom features that sound nice, like cutouts and suspension components. However, until you drive a custom build like this, you just don’t know if you’re going to like it or not.
Would you go for this restomod Pontiac or would you look for something else?
