After a string of large and alarming safety recalls, Ford’s tiny new Bronco recall was almost a relief by comparison. The defect itself is hardly trivial, involving the potential for a front lower control arm to detach from the frame at speed, yet the limited scope stood out.
A failure of that nature could be catastrophic, so the seriousness should not be understated despite the small number of vehicles involved. Still, after Ford’s run of massive recalls, a compact one felt like an unexpected change of pace.
