Ford Ranger Raptor Makes An Unreal Jump Off A Sand Dune

Video footage of a Ford Ranger Raptor that did an unreal jump off a sand dune on the coast of Brazil almost looks fake, it’s so amazing. At the same time, the stunt was incredibly dangerous and the driver could’ve died, let alone killed others. Plus, he’s now facing criminal charges.

The incident in question happened in Canoa Quebrada, an area called the peal of Brazil’s east coast, in a municipality called Aracati. You can see some people standing at the top of a large sand dune, one of them filming as the driver punches it and races up at high speed.

Once the Ranger Raptor reaches the top of the dune, it launches through the air like it’s some sort of bird. The person filming didn’t capture the landing, but we assume it’s brutal. Supposedly, the truck went 280 feet through the air, which is crazy in every respect.

Even worse, the Ford jumped over a dune buggy full of tourists, which could’ve ended in multiple fatalities. Thankfully, the pickup didn’t hit or land on that vehicle, but it was too close for comfort.

We do get to see the aftermath of the ill-advised jump. Not only are all four tires on the Ranger Raptor blown, the side curtain airbags deployed and the driver was knocked on out impact. Plus, the front fascia unsurprisingly took a beating and the fenders are damaged. Reportedly, the pickup suffered severe damage to the rear axle and bed.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the driver has permanent damage to this back. Stunt drivers who do big jumps often have specialized seats and suits to prevent that sort of thing.

Local authorities are understandably upset about the stunt. Private vehicles aren’t allowed to drive on the dunes without government authorization, which the Ranger Raptor driver didn’t have, reports Globo.

The truck was seized and the driver is facing criminal charges, including for an environmental crime. Just in case anyone thinks this is a good stunt to replicate, we’ll just clarify this was an incredibly stupid thing to do.
