For months now, production of the new Dodge Charger has been all over the place, but that’s about to change. A new report claims that starting on the week of June 23, Windsor Assembly Plant, where the Charger is made, will be back to running at full capacity.
Scout Motors is making a smart move early on.
This push is to clear out the rest of the 2025 model year, not only for the Dodge Charger but also the Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Voyager. But as the Windsor Star reports, the full production push will only last until August 18 when a planned two week shutdown starts.
Why the sudden change? Stellantis brass is giving a rather interesting response.
“These modifications are necessary as we complete the 2025 model year build and to prepare for the launch of the 2026 model year Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler Voyager/Grand Caravan and Dodge Charger,” Stellantis Canada’s head of communications, Lou Ann Gosselin, told the Windsor Star.
What isn’t clear is how many of those Dodge Chargers set to roll off the line will be of the Daytona EV variety versus the Hurricane inline-six.
Previously, as we’ve reported, Stellantis blamed the production stoppage of its all-electric “muscle car” on Trump’s tariffs. Considering the situation is quite dynamic, we wonder if maybe the EVs will start coming off the assembly line again, or if they will continue to be mothballed.
Instead, the report focuses on how minivan production at Windsor Assembly is apparently guaranteed for the near future. We honestly don’t care about that.
We’re just wondering if some of the shuffling has to do with the return of the Hemi V8.
Interestingly, Brampton Assembly was also mentioned in the article. That plant was shut down as Stellantis retooled it for production of the new Jeep Compass, a model we also don’t care about. But the automaker has apparently hit the pause button on that process “while Stellantis reassesses the market.”
Maybe the Compass isn’t too long for this life?
