We’re shocked to learn that Chevy dealers are struggling to unload C8 Z06 Corvettes more than regular Stingrays. After all, it’s no secret the Stingrays have become somewhat of a dog with sales tanking recently as demand drops.

But we had no idea the demand for Z06s is even lower. But a report from Corvette Blogger shows there are more Z06s available at dealers across the country than Stingrays in a twist we just would’ve have seen coming.
After all, GM doesn’t make nearly as many Corvette Z06 cars, so to have them stacking up at dealers seems odd.
According to Corvette Blogger’s analysis of dealer data, out of the 4,069 C8 Corvettes sitting on dealer lots or in showrooms, 42.2 percent are Z06 models. The Stingray line only makes up 37.4 percent and the E-Ray 20.3 percent.
Is the Z06 just too expensive? Base MSRP sits at $112,100 versus $106,900 for the E-Ray and $69,995 for the Stingray. It could be people are reigning in spending and so the Z06 is just too much.
Also interesting is how Corvette Blogger found Arctic White is the most common color for C8 Corvettes at dealers right now, followed by Black. We see a lot of Artic White ‘Vettes but that’s just anecdotal data, which in this case lines up with hard data.
We suspect the C8 Corvette was red hot when it first came out thanks to two factors. One is the shiny new toy syndrome where some shoppers, especially those who gravitate to expensive performance cars love having the latest “thing,” whatever it is.
The second factor was the low production numbers at first, thanks to covid restrictions and shortages. That perception of rarity elevated the C8 Covette to a loftier position in many enthusiasts’ heads. Now there are plenty of them out there, that perception has shifted dramatically.
The bottom line is you might be able to swing a tremendous deal on a C8 Z06 Corvette, if that’s what you want. Considering how much performance you get for the money, we bet a lot of people would like one. So why aren’t they selling more?
